Dr. Nagla’a El-Hodiri is a Director in GAO’s International Affairs and Trade team. She oversees work related to the trade portfolio, including work on export controls, sanctions, and foreign investment in the United States. As an Acting Director in IAT for 2 years, Nagla’a was responsible for issuing several reports related to foreign affairs management.
Nagla’a joined GAO in July 2002. She has served as an Assistant Director on the Education, Workforce, and Income Security team, where she focused on issues related to K-12 education and worker protections. Prior to GAO, Nagla’a served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, and was a high school mathematics teacher in the Bronx.
Nagla’a earned a doctorate degree in labor economics from the University of Arizona. Nagla’a earned a master’s degree in math education from Teachers College at Columbia University. Nagla’a earned bachelor’s degrees in French and economics from the University of Kansas.
