GAO Again Among the "Best Places to Work" in Government

WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 18, 2013) --- The Partnership for Public Service today announced that the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has once again made its list of the best places to work in the federal government.

GAO placed third among mid-size agencies in 2013; it was second in that category last year. The agency again ranked number one in its support of diversity in that same category. GAO has been consistently listed among the top five on the Partnership’s list since 2005.

“I’m pleased that GAO regularly places near the top of the best places to work list as a leading employer in the federal government,” said Gene L. Dodaro, Comptroller General of the United States and head of the GAO. “In particular, GAO makes a strong effort to ensure a diverse workforce and an inclusive work environment, so our continuing number one ranking in support of diversity means a great deal to us.”

Issued every year, the Partnership’s ratings are intended to provide job seekers with insights into the best opportunities for public service. Ratings are based on survey responses from federal employees about job satisfaction and whether they could recommend their organization as a place to work.
