Alfredo Gomez is a Director in GAO's Natural Resources and Environment team. He directs work on environmental protection, which includes climate change, air and water quality, hazardous waste, toxics, and environmental health, and program management at the Environmental Protection Agency.
Alfredo is a 28-year veteran of GAO, having joined the GAO Chicago field office in 1991. Alfredo left GAO in 1994 to work for the Honolulu City Council, where he audited local government agencies. He returned to GAO as a senior analyst in 1998, working on a variety of natural resources and environmental protection issues. In 2007, he was promoted to an assistant director and focused on federal oversight of food safety.
Alfredo holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Rice University and a master's degree in public policy studies from the University of Chicago.
