GAO presented a transcript of a videotape interview of Margaret L. Macfarlane, who served GAO from 1945 to 1971, Geraldine M. Rubar, who served GAO from 1943 to 1983, and Stella B. Shea, who served GAO from 1948 to 1980. These individuals worked in various capacities and assumed important roles, primarily in the Office of General Counsel. GAO conducted the interview as part of its program to record key government officials' observations and impressions and ensure that the bases for policy decisions and other important events are systematically recorded for posterity.
